PCO Renewals

Renewing a PCO licence needs to be handled on time. Driving with an expired badge is not permitted and can lead to enforcement action or financial penalties. Allowing a licence to lapse can also interrupt your ability to work.

The renewal process involves a few checks and submissions, and getting these right and in the right order helps avoid delays or rejection.

PCO RENEWAL APPLICATION CHECKLIST:

Before submitting a PCO licence application for renewal, the following requirements must be met:
A new DBS check must be completed using a TfL-authorised provider
A medical assessment must be completed using the TPH/204 form (PCO medical)
Applicants under 45 with no significant medical conditions may be exempt
A tax check must be completed with HMRC using a Government Gateway account
A PCO licence application must be submitted with all supporting documents attached

If your badge expires and you have not renewed, you must stop driving immediately. An extension of up to three months may be allowed from the expiry date. If renewal is not completed within that period, you will need to apply for a PCO licence again rather than continue under renewal.

1 Book an appointment - Arrange an appointment to begin the PCO application renewal process and review what is required before submission.
2 Medical Check - A GMC-registered GP completes the TPH/204 PCO medical form. Your medical history is reviewed to ensure you meet the standard required for driving. Some applicants may not need a medical depending on age and health history.
3 DBS / CRB Submission - An online DBS application is completed using a provider approved for PCO licence application processing.
4 Online Renewal Application - All paperwork is checked before the PCO licence application is submitted online. This includes confirming documents, DBS status, and medical details to reduce the risk of processing delays.
